Over 400 students nationwide were given a task: predict the performance of short-form videos, a la TikTok, using 10,000 digital tokens. It was a prediction market, a digital trend analyst's playground.
"It was like a beta test of an app, where we predicted view counts for short videos. We analyzed numbers, trends, and even the videos themselves to understand what the algorithm might favor," shares Victor L., a senior at Westwood.

Westwood's Computer Science Club dominated the competition. They earned the top score, outperforming all other participating schools. But it was Victor's individual performance that truly shone. He traded ahead of top minds at Stanford and Harvard by a staggering 700%!
"Seeing Westwood's name on the leaderboard week after week was impressive. But Victor's performance was exceptional. It's a testament to their dedication and skill," says Abbi Park, Spike co-founder and Harvard sophomore.
The Celebration: A Surprise Visit
To celebrate their victory, Abbi Park and her team made a special visit to Westwood. They surprised the club with a ceremonial check during lunch, an unexpected and heartwarming moment.
"It was amazing to see the Spike team fly out just for us. They were so kind, and it was a great experience to beta test an app and see the real-world application of our skills. It was a fun and memorable experience," Victor recalls.
This national recognition is a testament to the club's dedication to computer science, collaboration, and innovation. It's a story of hard work, strategy, and a bit of digital trendsetting magic!
