Chery's O5 Crossover Model Undergoes Second Facelift for Malaysia Market in 2026
The Chery O5, also known as the Omoda C5 or Chery C5, is set to receive a second facelift for the Malaysian market in 2026, according to Chery Corporate Malaysia. This update follows the model's initial facelift in September, which transformed the Omoda 5 into the Chery O5. The O5 is a crossover vehicle that has been refined and enhanced with a focus on performance and comfort.
Chery's commitment to the Malaysian market is evident, as they strive to provide a high-quality product. However, the exact timeline for the second facelift's arrival is uncertain due to the Omoda C5's initial left-hand-drive production. Once the model becomes available in right-hand-drive, a more precise schedule will be determined.
The second facelift introduces the SHS-H powertrain configuration, which is already available in markets like Spain. This setup combines a 1.5-liter petrol engine with an electric motor powered by a 1.83 kWh battery, resulting in a robust 223 PS output. The Chery O5's performance and efficiency are enhanced by this innovative powertrain.
One of the key improvements in the 2025 Chery O5 is the transmission system. It replaces the CVT with a six-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox, ensuring a smooth and responsive driving experience. The rear suspension has also been upgraded to a multi-link configuration, providing better stability and control.
The Chery O5 is equipped with a range of standard features, including automatic LED headlights, LED fog lights, keyless entry with remote engine start, acoustic glass, auto wipers, and a hands-free powered tailgate. These features contribute to a comfortable and convenient driving experience.
Inside the vehicle, passengers will find dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, power-adjustable seats with ventilation, faux leather upholstery, a cooled front armrest storage, 64-color ambient lighting, and dual-color vanity mirror illumination. These amenities create a luxurious and personalized environment.
Convenience features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Qi wireless charger, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, and a 360-degree camera system with transparency. These technologies enhance the overall driving experience and provide a seamless connection to the vehicle's entertainment and navigation systems.
Safety is a top priority, with the Chery O5 featuring six airbags, stability control, and advanced driver assistance systems. These include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, speed limit assist, front departure alert, and high-beam assist. These safety features ensure a secure and confident driving experience.
The Chery O5's second facelift promises to elevate its performance, comfort, and safety, making it an attractive option for Malaysian drivers seeking a reliable and feature-rich crossover vehicle.
